The beauty of that which is out of focus. Most people would discard an out of focus photograph. But for me, it is the opposite. Finding myself presented with an image that is out of focus awakens my interest. And my mind begins to wander:
What is the story behind this image?
What secrets does it hold?
What does this defocusing mean?
Is a focused image somehow more objective?
In Spanish, ‘desenfoque’ can be defined as changing the true essence of something. It is this interpretation that I want to convey with this work.
In underwater photography, there is - in addition to all the traditional elements of classical photography - a line that divides water and air, that divides two realities.
This project seeks the eye that looks at what has already been looked at, that is, the viewer who observes the artist's photograph. It is the viewer’s gaze that changes the meaning given to the image, endowing it with the ‘objectivity’ of their own reality.
In the eye of the artist, the line brings together two worlds; the water dancing, uniting different perspectives.
