Krysia Howard is an artist and weaver based in Ibiza, whose work is deeply rooted in her heritage and the environment. Her journey into weaving was inspired by her grandmother, a weaver, dyer, and collector of textiles. Growing up surrounded by beautiful and colorful fabrics, led Krysia to embrace weaving as her own creative path.
Krysia’s exploration of wool as a medium is central to her artistic practice. She sources her wool from Basque transhumance sheep, which is transformed through the cooperative Bekoop, an initiative she co-founded with two other women in 2012. Her commitment to sustainability is evident in her work, as she delves into the regenerative potential of wool, creating artworks and rugs on her loom in her Ibiza workshop. Through her weaving, Krysia deepens her exploration of the connections between art, community, and the environment, making each piece a reflection of these intertwined relationships.
